for summer linen pant wide legged would you recommend soft light weight or medium weight for pants and a top

Hello You can use our Il019 medium weight for pants and tops. For a lighter fabric for the blouse only, our IL020 lightweight is a lovely option as well.

I am looking for a size chart for the Amy pattern. Although there are many views, sizes, and diagrams I am unable to find a size chart. And as it is too late to call I am not able to order. Maybe you can have a size chart available for all the patterns and I might try to order a pattern another time. . Thank you for letting me ask a question. Jean

Hello, the size chart is located on this page. Under the size selection, there is a link which says "View Size Chart". All sizes, finished garment measurements, and yardages are listed there.

Today I wore the AMI dress (sleeveless version) in L020 Black: it was PERFECT. I am not a beginner but seasoned enough to take this on. The instructions have to be read through a few times before getting what it means. I really wish there were actual pictures Instead of drawings: would help immensely. Overall, I love the way it came out (flaws and all) and felt comfortable yet still dressed and stylish. I'd recommend this pattern and will totally make it again. My advice is to please look at the finished garment measurements to compare to your size. I made two sizes smaller than what my size is and it was great.

Clara profile image Lovely piece

I bought this pattern when I fell in love with the look of the tunic. I really love the way it turned out (though there was one part of the instructions that made no sense to me at all--probably should have taken advantage of the help offered online, but instead I improvised a bit--oh well!). In spite of that it came out beautifully and has been much admired by friends and family (now I'm working on a different piece with the same puzzling instruction & illustration, so this time I will definitely reach out!). I made the tunic in Blue Ice, and I love the color; the fit is perfect, and the armholes aren't too big (guessing it's because I'm tall?). Thanks again Fabrics Store! Another win from your beautiful patterns.

Fun to put together, wish there was a PDF format

I made the Ami tunic and had a lot of fun putting together the front placket and the collar. It's an enjoyable sew with some unique details. There is a lot of ease in the bust and waist though, and considerably less in the hip. I ended up grading from a 2 in the bust/waist to an 8 in the hip and I think I could've used even more hip ease. Didn't want to cut the pattern pieces out before testing the fit, so I had to trace them with tracing paper to do my adjustments/fitting. I wish these printed patterns were also available in PDF format after purchase.

Beginner thoughts

The pattern instructions were pretty easy even for a newly returning sewist and arrived promptly. The linen handles nicely, I'm still not sure that I like the placket on the front, I may modify on my next as well as make the collar a bit narrower. My only real critique is the armholes for the sleeveless tunic are quite large! Definitely needs to be re-engineered.

Okay, so there is a little background on choosing Ami. I look for vintage elements in contemporary patterns, something that I have started doing more of, influenced by my love of vintage clothing. I look for vintage clothing when I thrift. The adventure that comes with thrifting can be such a rush. It is one of the things that I do in between meetings when I am out of town for work. I drive a lot and its great to get up and walk around. Recently I found is great tropical set. It's this lovely tropical vest and pants, you can see it here in all its glory. The pants have elastic only on the sides sans zippers. I have been looking for patterns that have similar elastic waistbands. Whilst browsing FS patterns, I noticed that the Ami trouser pattern had elastic channels on the sides of the waistband. I knew then that I had to try this out.

Tunic shortened by two inches to suit my height. Also changed the plackets and used contrasting fabric in neck facing and armhole.

The AMI Dress was so easy to put together and has such great styling capabilities that I had fun adding some extra elements to it. I did implement two changes: I lengthened the back dress pattern pieces by 3" and I made a waist tie belt since I had a little extra fabric. I added the length at the back because I didn't want it to be shorter in case I chose to tie my waist since I like to pull some fabric up to give that blouse and skirt feel to the outfit.

The AMI Pattern is my literal favorite right now. I have a mini capsule collection in my closet now thanks to this pattern. The shorts are my second make. I like that these aren't too short at all and have a classy look. Plus when you make your own, you can make it to your liking.

Making my first pair of trousers was very intimidating. I've made pants before but always with a clean waistband and side zipper. I wanted to challenge myself to make a more tailored pant. When I saw AMI Pattern I wanted both the pants and shorts. I especially love the gathered detail at the waistband, it gives a softness to the other tailoring elements of the pants.
