Dark earthy browns tinged with red like SHOPPING BAG are a defining feature of British, 19th century landscape painter John Constable, lending depth and weight to his brooding, dramatic scenes.
A key figure in the British Romanticist school, Constable painted the British landscape as a wild, barren and untamable place, where overgrown plants tangle together and fall into dark, mysterious pools of water, and colossal trees stretch out over the sky with long branches, carrying with them the great weight of their history. Browns were therefore an essential tool in his arsenal for conveying fertile soil, brittle branches and crumbling bark, and he spent hours painting in the great outdoors in order to capture their rich and abundant hues.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 59 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Why can I not buy a sample of this? Why are some colors available as samples and others not?

We have inventory on some colors, but the pre-made sample chips have not arrived. Please contact customer service directly to request samples of colors where the samples are not showing for purchase.
The color appears as a shade of purple on my computer screen. But I would have assumed that 'shopping bag' means it's a shade of brown. Can you help clarify what family of color this item belongs to?

It is a beautiful shade of brown that has a slight red undertone that in certain light or monitors might show as a purple hue.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
