Fabric specifications:
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.
As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

Question & Answers
Is there a way to keep this colorfast? I made a garment last year, and there is now a spot of a lighter shade on it; the spot leans almost a fuschia color. I am very disappointed as this seems like a quality issue. I've only been gentle with the garment and fabric since making it. I made sure to properly "abuse" the fabric before I made the garment.

We recommend to wash garment separately, turn garment inside out, use cold water, use mild detergent only, avoid bleach, avoid long soaking, line dry in shade and try to avoid over-drying in direct sunlight.

Yes, this fabric makes a lovely duvet cover. This fabric has very minimal shrinkage of around 3%, so some people prefer to sew first, then wash.
Is this a purple blue or a grey purple? Or neither?

I was so excited to receive my fabric! Unfortunately it turned out to be the worst quality fabric I have ever purchased (and I've purchased A LOT!). It almost doesn't feel like linen, the staple is so short. I bought multiple fabric types and they are all awful. Now, when I attempt to leave a one star review, the website automatically logs me out. The whole experience feels very scammy, and I am out over $300. Very expensive lesson learned. Buyer beware.

This fabric came apart in wash. Never had this happen ever. Should have washed before all the sewing. Usually always wash before sewing.

The color of Heron is wonderful! It doesn't shout "PURPLE!" but it smiles and laughs as it says it. My favorite color of all the offered linens here. I've never been a huge fan of purple, but with this linen color I have been inspired to make shorts with a matching top and I'll make long linen pants with a simple jacket also. You won't be disappointed with this color.

This fabric will be used to make a color block shirt along with a coordinating print. I am not sure which pattern that I will use, but I am excited to see the finished product.

This is a beautiful shade of purple. It matched a stripe on a linen blouse I already had. It was wonderful to work with. However, I was disappointed that the colour wasn't totally fast. I washed it on cold with a free and clear laundry soap and line dried it. It came out with splotches of a lighter shade. Fortunately, I was able to work around them for the most part, and was able to hide one I couldnt avoid in my back pleat. Mettler Metrosene 0577 is a perfect thread match.

Finished Projects
Capri , did not wash fabric before time consuming sewing . Big mistake. Fabric just came apart in wash like rotted fabric. Never had this happen before. Been sewing 65 years.

I haven't made anything with my medium weight Heron fabric yet, but so far it seems up to the quality I would expect from FS. My sister's favorite color is a light purple. I originally purchased Wisteria, but found that to be more chambray blue than purple. I ordered Heron as a second attempt, and although it's a little darker than expected, I think it's the closest color they offer to light purple and will make a beautiful gift. I'm always wondering how different colors look compared to other shades and in different lighting, so I thought I'd made a photo showing the two shades in different lighting. My personal impression of the colors is that the outdoor lighting photo feels more accurate. Of course everything looks different on different monitors, but hopefully this is helpful.
