The hazy, lilac blue of WISTERIA linen seeped into the artworks of the late 19th century Symbolist era, casting diffused light that suggests the silent land of dreams. French painter Edouard Vuillard was part of this group; his quiet, intimate scenes were often cast with heather, blue and lavender tones, lending them a hushed air of poetic mystery.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces, this 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

Linen for Tina Givens patterns
Reviewer: Roxy

I bought several colors of linen for my Tina Givens patterns. They are all in the medium weight, and I love all the colors I got. I would like for Fabrics-Store to say if the color is for a warm or cool skin tone, especially the greens and browns. I washed them all in the machine, machine dried (but not bone dry) and they are all fine, ready to press and cut out my patterns. I also appreciate that they come wrapped in plastic, for the chance that it is raining when the delivery leaves on the front porch.

Such a lovely colour
Reviewer: Karen

I recently made a robe for my very discerning international model daughter. The colour is so lovely she asked for a dress so I ordered 10 yards when it came on sale. Sorry Maureen but on a fixed income I must budget to support my sewing addiction. Love this fabric! In fact, now I want to sew only with linen.

Perfect color
Reviewer: Asya

This is the beautiful purple I expected. I'm going to make a Helen's Closet Suki Robe from it because linen robes are the most comfortable and luxurious thing you can wear at home! The color is a periwinkle that matches my favorite pajamas perfectly. Incredibly smooth hand and finish

Beautiful fabric
Reviewer: Brenda

I bought this fabric for the gorgeous color. It is exactly as pictured on my IPad. I had previously used the more rustic linen with a more open weave that I had underlined with fusible tricot. Since this is a tighter weave I didn't used any underlining and made a second pair of pull on pants. They are simply gorgeous, cool in the AZ summer, and wrinkle much less than other linen I have worn. This is my new "go to" fabric for slacks.

I used IL19 to make bath towels last year. I've had Vogue pattern (V1312) since early last fall. I knew I wanted to make it from this linen to take on my trip to Italy. This color went on sale and I ordered it on a whim. It's in my color palette and I knew I couldn't go wrong. It is a true periwinkle, put it up to blue thread, it looks purple, next to purple, it looks blue. In fact, I struggled to find matching thread. I went home with blue thread and a purple zipper. I looks beautiful. It is nubby and there are a few large nubs I hope will still wear well.

Wonderful for sheets
Reviewer: Sharon

The color is beautiful, it was very easy to handle, and my daughter is really enjoying the final product, using the sheets on her bed. A center flat-felled seam is no problem at all.

Love the ease of sewing.
Reviewer: Janet

I made dinner napkins as a gift, and this weight worked great for that project. The weave is loose enough that pulling the threads to square each napkin was easy. Finger pressing the hems before sewing was easy also. The color is beautiful!

Beautiful fabric, beautiful color. Wonderful to work with and drapes beautifully. I am glad I read the reviews so that I was aware it was going to have a TON of lint. Even after washing it 4 times there was a lot of lint. Just be forewarned.

Great Fabric!
Reviewer: Kimberly

I used this to make a 16th century working class costume for Ren Faire. It washes great, irons fabulously, and is really just a great fabric to work with especially hand sewing. And it feels so cool on the skin even with multiple layers! Other colors I used were Rust, mineral yellow, and krista natural.

wonderful!
Reviewer: Julie

This is the best linen for my new blouse(McCalls pattern 6035). I love the feel, drape, behavior - very few wrinkles with machine washing and drying or hanging on a hanger to air dry - if I can wait that long to start sewing! I have purchased this fabric before so I knew what was coming to my mailbox. Thanks for providing this website and your prompt service. I'll be back!

Donna profile image Beautiful Color
Reviewer: Donna

I ordered 5 yards of the wisteria linen, and made a robe. I am 5'10", so it takes 5 yards to make a floor length hooded robe, including a 3" wide finished sash. The linen is luxurious. It feels luxurious to wear the robe after showering. The linen also handles oils well, so has been great for my massage therapy. The linen is great to work with. The color is interesting as it looks periwinkle and , yet, while sewing it often had a blue gray look. I love the color and have ordered several others besides and have not been disappointed. This fabric is addictive. Once, I finish one garment I quickly start planning the next. I am curious to find out how the heavier weight would do for pants.

If only...
Reviewer: Katie

The color is a bit less bright than what the picture displays, but I must say I prefer the actual color to that on the screen. It's sort of a dark periwinkle. It's exceptionally flowy, but not as soft as I imagined, but that's because I am disillusioned and was envisioning fleece kind of soft rather than linen kind of soft. This is fantastic fabric, and I'm definitely going to buy more fabric from here! If only I had the right color of thread to go with it...

Just beautiful!
Reviewer: Angela

A gorgeous color and sooo soft! This fabric is a great value, I\'m already placing my second order!

I slightly modified the Faye pattern: reduced the width of the sleeves, added hemstitching to sleeves; added on-seam pockets (just because!) and decided it look too plain, so changed up the patch pockets just for fun. This fabric is wonderful - the color is true to what you see in the photos and is so easy to work with (once you've determined the true grain).

I love my new shirt made out of Wisteria linen! I wear it as an overshirt or buttoned--both are lovely. And the fabric feels terrific when you wear it.

2 yards of IL019 Wisteria was used to make this self-drafted dress. I used a decorative stitch on my machine for the detailing on the side pockets and neckline.

Posted by Nancy

Beautiful periwinkle color - maybe a little paler than the monitor swatch but not much. Switches between blue and lilac depending on the light and what's next to it - it's truly lovely and extremely soft.

I love the color for these pinny's I made. Have cut a few from the heavy weight in other colors but stitched these med weight up first since the color was so sweet. The fabric washes and wears great.

I made Vogue V1236, a Lynn Mizono shirt, with this fabric. Most of the shirt I made by hand, because I enjoy the process - and it comes out looking less rigid. This linen has body, but also flows well. I posted the front view with this description, but will also post the back, since it's interesting. I decided to make changes to the design - the cuffs were awkward looking, so I simplified. It was a good project.

I made two flat sheets and 3 pillowcases using 13 yards of Wisteria IL019 linen. It is closer to periwinkle than it appears on my monitor and is perfect with my bedroom wall color. So very happy to see it back in stock.

This delicate wisteria linen is paired with a band of black linen and black contrast stitching to create a baby sling of quiet drama! The wonderful natural strength and breathability of linen make it a great fabric choice for so many different projects! I love using linen from Fabric-store for many of our carriers found at lilpeeperkeepers.etsy.com
