OLIVE BRANCH Linen's earthy green rolls outwards across Hieronymus Bosch's fantastical scenes, forming endless pastures of muddy grass and fervent trees that evoke the utopian paradise of Eden. His paintings are brimming with moralizing stories about life, love, loss, and repentance, as impish humans, birds, fish, insects, and machines form mini-dramas that play out in a complex myriad of theatrical sequence.
But it is the paradisiacal, olive green landscape that unites them, a soft neutral with golden undertones, which, when bedecked with small patches of glistening jewel tones, sparkles with vitality and life.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 59 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.

As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

Do colors of fabric differ depending on fabric treatment? Specifically, I'm looking at "olive branch" in softened and in signature, and the softened version looks greener while the signature version is browner. Do these two actually differ in color or is it just an incidental difference in the photos?

Hello, sometimes the signature and softened may have slightly different color, this is more due to the batch of linen that is dyed as subtle variations may occur between harvests and the type of linen used. This is very rare and mostly occurs between different weights of linen, than between finishes. So the Olive Branch in softened and signature are the same :)

Would this fabric be appropriate for unlined drapes or would it be better to line.? I want drapes to be light filtering. If I were to line what fabric would you recommend? From reading description this fabric is pre shrunk. Is that correct?

Hello, This fabric would indeed be light filtering. We recommend getting a yard to try out it the fabric will filter the light how you imagine for your particular window direction and your desired hanging method. This fabric has minimal shrinkage of around 3%, so you should still pre-wash your drapes to ensure they do not shrink down the line when you clean them.

I am a first time buyer for your linen and have not sewed with linen for a while. Would this be a good weight for a pair of loose fitting slacks?

Beautiful feel; color not accurate

I used this recently to see a pair of shorts and it's so light and silky, and I will definitely use it to sew a few more wardrobe staples. Only disappointment is the color. I was expecting something more bronze like the picture would indicate but in reality it's pretty straightforwardly olive.

We're so glad you love the feel of this linen, and are sorry that the color on your monitor is different from the true color of the fabric, In future, you may like to get samples to see the color in person before committing to your yardage.

I used this beautiful olive fabric to make a square neck top. I am a newbie to sewing and used a pattern from New Look to make my project. I got some assistance from my mother and we both worked together to make this top. It turned out beautifully and thanks to Fabrics Store for the wonderful quality linen!
