IL019 All-purpose Dusty Lotus Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Medium (5.3 oz/yd2), Width 59"
The damp, earthy green of DUSTY LOTUS
Linen brought shadowy depths into John Constable's windswept
landscapes, lending them the fresh coolness of the British countryside.
Glowering, tempestuous skies hang over his brooding scenes, while the land below ripples in and out of the light, shifting from sunlit leaves to moody, cold shadows. Shifting patterns of light across land and sky fascinated him for his entire career, as he observed, “… let the form of an object be what it may – light, shade and perspective will always make it beautiful.”
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 59 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

What is a good weight linen for embroidery? I'm thinking of using linen and displaying in an embroidery hoop. Also want to let you know that I've purchased your narrow width linen for making dish towel for presents. Everyone I give them to absolutely loves them. They are the most absorbent towels with a luxury all there own. Love them!
All of our weights have been and can be used for embroidery projects but the most popular choice is the medium weight linens IL019 or 1C64.

I had been waiting for Dusty Lotus to come back around on sale. I didn't catch it before - & after I had decided that it was a great color for me. I'm not sure yet what I'll make with it, but the color is exactly as shown & it will be perfect for any one of the patterns I have already purchased. As always, it feels lovely & will be a wonderful addition to my wardrobe.
I came to Fabric-Store looking or a dress-appropriate linen and had to choose from so many colours it was almost overwhelming. When I finally decided upon green, I still had to narrow it down. I could not have made a better choice; Dusty Lotus is absolutely beautiful and just what I had in mind for my dress project. It is helpful to see how and what others have made; and o course I had the option to get a sample. But my monitor proved true; this was the perfect green. Dusty Lotus is highly recommended; and I cannot wait to discover other colours in this shop. Now to find buttons and thread to match!
I have been searching for the right green for months and found this! I am in heaven looking at this green and it was such a pleasure to sew with- I made a pair of Tyler Trousers of my dreams. I came back to fabric-store.com to buy even more Dusty Lotus and alas, sold out! Please, restock!
Can't wait to make something. I love the color and feel of this fabric. It's perfect.
I made two Augustina tops out of this - one for myself and one for my aunt. It's so soft and lovely (drape!) and the color is very flattering for all seasons!
I used this fabric to make a quilted jacket. It quilted up beautifully. I quilted it directly to cotton batting with no backing fabric. I quilted out rough pattern-piece sized blocks and I pre-shrank the quilted blocks before I cut out the pattern pieces. Everything shriveled up and it gave wonderful wrinkled texture. The rayon lining hides the batting on the inside. This fabric is very easy to work with and the jacket has a rustic, cozy vibe. Pattern is the Kelly Anorak by Closet Core Patterns. threads_of_sanity
