Expressionist artist Chaim Soutine made meaty, muscular paintings loaded with great slabs and strokes of paint; they twist, curl and contort across his canvases in an endless state of flux. Like many artists of the early 20th century Soutine painted a heightened, exaggerated version of the real world, one lit up by iridescent colors and violently subversive passages of paint.

Glowing, golden shades like CEDAR GREEN light up many of his most celebrated works of art, particularly his landscapes, filling them with the energizing and regenerative power of nature.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 59 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

What weight would you suggest for pajama bottoms? A favorite purchased pair of linen pj bottoms is "returning to the earth," and one day, I'm going to awaken to shreds. Would handkerchief weight be too light.....I don't want them see through, I've been known to lounge in them.

Darker than expected

While the color is pretty the color was darker than I expected. I also thought it had more brown in it based on my computer screen but it is the color of a green olive only much darker. Not sure what to do with it at this point as the color doesn't fit into my color pallet. (Autumn)

linen shopping

I found the quality of the products top class, the service exceptional, the prices are sensational and it is such a relief to have a shop where you can visit and know that you are getting a quality product - without having to search. In South Australia the fabric shops seem to be few and far between and when I do need to go to a store it is an expedition so this service is top draw - thank you

After making a dress with this fabric a small piece of leftover yardage became the Grainline Studio Tamarack hacked into a vest. Bias binding, quilting and brass colored snaps paired well with this beautiful green linen.

I chose to make a square-neck variation of the pattern collaboration I did last summer with Taree of Marsha Style. It's called the Grace Dress. For this variation I added ruffles to the shoulders and a button placket in the back. When I received the beautiful softened CEDAR GREEN shade, it felt like pure spring to me, and I wanted to make something fun and celebratory but that I also knew I would wear often. As I get older, I reach more for flowy, forgiving summer pieces that can be thrown over a swimsuit or worn to dinner. And it must have pockets.
