At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.
The Premier Finish undergoes a two-step process to give the cloth a luxurious, supple feel right out of the box.
First, we apply a softener to give the fabric a silkier surface. Then, strong blasts of air are blown into the woven cloth. This beats up the fibers to make them softer and mimics the fiber bending process that the fabric undergoes when you've used it a lot.
This finishing process gives the fabric a much softer and more luxurious hand. It will be less prone to deep creases and have less linting. Shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration based on the fabric type ( thread size, count, weave type).

4C-22 is great weigh of fabric to make a pair of elastic weight wide leg style pants. You also can check medium weigh IL019. We recommend to order samples swatches and check the fabric weight
I've noticed the all purpose version of Earth has sold out, would the rustic version be suitable for a skirt/top set? I worry that it would be too stiff or heavy and would like to get some advice before purchasing. Thank you!

We expecting to receive 4C-22 Earth back in stock some time end of May. This is heavy rustic linen and will be suitable for skirt but for top probably a little to heavy, we recommend to check IL019 medium weight of fabric for top. We also offering sample swatches you may consider to order swatches prior ordering fabric.
This fabric looks more red than brown on my computer screen. Is that the case?

Yes, this fabric is ideal for structured pants. It has a lovely drape and added durability being a heavyweight fabric. We also recommend our IL019 medium weight for pants as well.
Would this be suitable for a simple, non tailored jacket?

I love the deep, rich color of this fabric. I had ordered some a year or so ago and made shorts. I'm so happy it's back in stock! I ordered more! I have had no problem with this color, or any other from Fabrics-Store, bleeding or the color transferring. I wash all my beautiful linen in cold water and dry on low, take out while still a tiny bit damp and hang to finish drying. Always looks great!
I made elastic waist, wide leg pants in this color and weight. Also made a pair in camel. I literally wear one or the other most days all summer & fall in New England. I kept the edges raw and made a couple rounds of stitches so they would hold with a raw edge and Ii love how they look. Also embroidered a little on the bottom. I make sandals so this is one of my shop photos on Etsy, BirchMoonShop. Highly recommend this fabric. Moves easy, breathes easy, not so light and airy and delicate as a thinner linen. I'm a farmer and these stand up to the job!
I was so excited to use this linen for some flowy summer pants-I loved the color and it coordinated nicely with a fabric I was planning to use to co-ord with. However, the dye bleeds like CRAZY! I have never in my life had so much trouble with a fabric before. I washed it in warm with color catchers 5X and it still had no signs of stopping. I also tried soaking in vinegar, which did not help either. The fabric is unusable for my project and am feeling disappointed with this product.

Hello Amber, Sorry to hear that you had an issue with the color fastness of the 4C-22 Earth color. To make sure we had a problem with color running we sent fabric to the Laboratory to check the color testing for dry and wet crucking. The result was excellent . Please see attached photo of fabric in White and Earth colors stitched and laundered together. There is no sign of color running.We don't want you to feel bad about the fabric you have ordered from us and would like to send you a replacement. Made my own pattern, of 4c22 Earth rustic linen. May be my favorite of your linens. Embroidery at the bottom. Sandals are in my Etsy shop, BirchMoonShop in the US. Hope to have pants and shirts on there as I learn to make patterns bigger (or only sell size small lol)

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
