Fabric specifications:
At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.
The Premier Finish undergoes a two-step process to give the cloth a luxurious, supple feel right out of the box.
First, we apply a softener to give the fabric a silkier surface. Then, strong blasts of air are blown into the woven cloth. This beats up the fibers to make them softer and mimics the fiber bending process that the fabric undergoes when you've used it a lot.
This finishing process gives the fabric a much softer and more luxurious hand. It will be less prone to deep creases and have less linting. Shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration based on the fabric type ( thread size, count, weave type).

How much does this fabric shrink when first washed? Is it already prewashed?

4C22 Rustic Dulse FS Premier Finish is not pre washed . Premier Finish is a softening process where we use a special machine that helps break down the hand to give these linens a very smooth look and feel. It feels like butter - silky smooth. Although this linen has gone through agitation with a softener, it has not been laundered. You will need to consider shrinkage here as well (7-10%).
Hello, I'm looking at using this to make a bookcase on a quilt and I'm curious if you know what chemicals are added to it as I'm making it for my sister with leukemia and some things are OK but I'm just trying to understand what exactly the chemical applied to the process of softener, etc. might be

This is a great fabric to make a bookcase on a quilt . Regarding the chemicals - the fabric is not organic and it' has been used dye product to add the color to fabrics .Please let us know what chemicals is not acceptable and we will advice if those chemicals was added when treated the fabric

So happy I picked this red after looking at all of the shades available. It is a pure burgundy/wine color with blueish undertones...no trace of orange here at all. Mine will be used to make an 18th century style waistcoat. It does have the perfect weight for garments that need to have body, this is not a drapy linen at all. But if your project needs to have a bit of struture this weight will be perfect. It washes beautifully.
I haven't used this fabric yet but it arrived quickly and is just as described. The color is saturated and rich. The feel is great. At this point I'm not sure what I'll create with this. I was thinking a sport coat. Whatever I make it will be gorgeous in this fabric.
the color is amazing. It's rich and juicy, exactly like a ripe pomegranate. It's wonderfully versatile. The linen feels great to the hand, hangs and sews great and doesn't stretch out much at all with wear. However, I had to take two stars off because the fabric is still shedding a surprising amount of fuzz after being washed 4+ times, and the pants I made looks a bit worn in spots as if the color has washed out.
