Fabric in the shade of SPICE Linen became billowing plumes of fire in the hands of Flemish master Peter Paul Rubens, bursting out of the darkness like sparks of light. Leader in the Baroque style, Rubens' canvases were charged with emotive, sensual energy and movement, as theatrically staged figures are engulfed in epic swathes of heavy, indulgent fabric.

Blazing shades of red, terracotta and burnt orange were strategically placed for dramatic effect, helping to tell seductive, tragic or terrifying stories by drawing our eye to the center of the action.

At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Gorgeous, rich orange color.

I feel like this shade of orange is incredibly likeable and easy to wear. It's orange for people who may think they don't like orange. It's deep and rich and beautiful. I love it! It matches with a surprising number of other colors, too.

I have already made one shawl from 2 yards x ½ width. After washing and making the ponytail fringe, I could not have purchased a similar scarf for $100!

Rich shade of terra cotta

This was a perfect color for some pillow shams I made for a guest bedroom. It is very easy to work with.

Perfect fabric for this bottom. Love the color and love the texture.

I jumped at the opportunity to try the Sol. I ultimately went with the heavy softened linen in Spice (I've never met an orange I don't like, and I thought a darker colorway would lend itself well to bottoms).

Cass pants (free pattern from this site). The color IRL is maybe a bit more orange than is showing in this photo, but it's a nice, deep, warm orange.

My dressmakers form, Anna-Maria, is modeling the spice scarf with ponytail fringe. It is chilly here, but she is warm! This fabric is so delightful to work with, and so lovely to wear! It softens with each wash, as linen does. I have made other scarves from bluebonnet, fern, asphalt (grey) and natural. I am eagerly awaiting the black, as I know several men who want black or grey, including my Beloved. Fabrics Store is the absolute best, both in the quality of their products and their customer service.

This fabric made beautiful Euro pillow shams for my guest bedroom. I quilted the fronts of them and added a decorative tassel trim to frame the pillow.
