CORAL linen is a color filled with heat and fire, burning with the raging intensity of a Spanish sunset. For the deeply passionate painter Joan Miro this red held great significance, both as a patriotic symbol for his native Spain and a potent carrier of raw, overflowing emotion that spills out from his canvases and into the room beyond.

At a lighter weight of 3.5 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is woven with finer threads to give it a smoother appearance. Referred to as lightweight or handkerchief linen, this fine, but surprisingly sturdy linen brings new meaning to the term "sheer elegance".

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Great accent color!

I bought this Coral handkerchief linen for a specific project, but ended up using it as sleeve lining for a nice but not-very-interesting green medieval tunic. What a difference it made! Since then, I've used it as lining and accent color for a dark blue gown, and ordered more for future projects. I hope you will introduce more handkerchief linen in bright colors.

LOVE this color...

Made the Roseclair dress from Cashmerette in this beautiful fabric. IL020 is a bit lighter than IL019, but it worked out well for this dress as it has a lot of gathers.

Nice fabric but ...

This is a lovely fabric, it has a nice hand and is easy to sew. As another review said, it is good for lightweight lagenlook summer tops. But how do you come up with these names? I think of coral as a lighter orange. And you call it an orange-red but I don't see any red in this at all. This is closer to a Halloween orange. Fortunately, I like all shades of orange and I will get plenty of use out of this top. I suggest people take the time to get a swatch.

Andie profile image Vivid Lightweight Summer Fabric

I made a sleeveless tunic/summer dress with this gorgeously ultra-vivid orange/red linen. It drapes beautifully and is light and airy. I'll be buying more to make some lagenlook full and flowy pants soon! Fun to pair with bright blues/turquoise!

I've been ordering from Fabrics Store since 2017 and they never miss! The quality and the color range of their linens is incredible. This Coral color is absolutely to die for and I am so happy that it's back in stock! The orange is soooo saturated and bright, but still feels deep and isn't overwhelming. The 3.7 oz weight is perfect for apparel— it has structure and a beautiful drape, but doesn't feel bulky. I use this lighter weight for projects with finer details or lots of pleating or gathering. I exclusively use the Fabrics Store linen for my Etsy because of their high standards and consistency. You can find my giant scrunchies on Etsy at firstcampaign.etsy.com!

I decided to make the FS Bruna shirt with IL020 Handkerchief Coral Softened linen because I wanted a top that was a bit more breezy and lightweight so that it can be used as a quick cover-up on beach/lake days and as a light blouse on indoor/work days.

Dress for a friend. She's going to Mexico and wanted this dress to go for her beach cover up. Butterick B5362 View B. Didn't want white.

Medieval court tunic with Coral accents and sleeve lining

I was a little concerned about the lightweight character of this linen... I shouldn't have been. It is not see-through and makes a great summer dress.
