Bright, hot pinks like BOUGAINVILLEA burst forth from the abstract art of post-war British artist Patrick Heron, illuminating space with the radiance of summer flowers.
A true colorist, Heron dedicated much of his life to the exploration of how one tone could bounce of another, and create sonorous or discordant sensations. He said, “I think this world is magical. Color, form, space, relationships – these elevate life.”
At a lighter weight of 3.5 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is woven with finer threads to give it a smoother appearance. Referred to as lightweight or handkerchief linen, this fine, but surprisingly sturdy linen brings new meaning to the term "sheer elegance".
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
I've made several items of clothing from your linen and would like to post on line, but I've been unable to do so. The most recent was skirt and top using the Normandy collection. Could you help me with that, or perhaps I could send photos of each with a note and you could post them. I've been following/purchasing for nearly 3 years. I did manage to post Normandy make on Facebook and received nice reviews/comments. Thanks, Mary Gayle garrisonm800gmail.com
Hello Gayle, please email our customer service team directly with your photos and they would be happy to post them for you. email askfabrics-store.com
What linen would be good for baby swaddles, bibs, and burpees?
Hello, Our muslin double gauze cotton fabric is ideal for baby swaddles, For bibs and burpees, you may like to consider our cotton/linen waffle weave fabric. Search for code IS010
I need a sample of lightweight Bouganvilla, but there is no place on the site to order just a sample of this color.
Please email us directly at askfabrics-store.com so we can arrange to send a sample to you.
Would this be a good weight for napkins?
We have had customers us this finer lightweight linen for napkins and they are beautiful . We do recommend ordering a swatch just to make sure the color and weight will work for your project.
Would you describe this as a warm pink color?
Yes this would be considered a warm pink.
I'm not familiar with the different linen weights. Would this fabric be appropriate for a structured top? Thank you.
This fabric is a light and airy fabric, so it may be too light for a 'structured top' Depending on how much structure you need, I'd recommend either our medium or heavyweight fabrics. If you'd like please email us directly using the contact form and our in-house seamstress would he happy to see what design or pattern you are working with and recommend the best fabric for you.
I thought it would be more reddish. It is a deep rich pink. Still beautiful though. Buttery feel! Will be purchasing more. I want a pair of pants and/or a top. A top in this color and a pair of optic white pants would be gorgeous! Or vice versa!!
The handkerchief weight is extremely lightweight and airy. Coupled with the incredibly soft hand, it is my favorite linen to use for summer sewing. The hot pink hue of Bougainvillea allows for this lightweight material to not be too sheer, so I have no worries about undergarments peeking through unintentionally. (However, my hunch says that the white colorway wouldn't be as forgiving!)
