With the heady richness of crushed blackberries or port red wine, WILDCHERRY linen's tart shade of burgundy stained deep into the canvases of Pre-Raphaelite painter John William Waterhouse, lending them the dramatic intensity of a stormy romance.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces, this 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Perfect color!
Reviewer: Miranda

I ordered this fabric to make a "Masha and the Bear" halloween costume for my daughter last fall. I was concerned the color wouldn't be quite right, but ordered anyway, figuring it would be close. It's a tricky tone to get perfect, a dark pink/fuschia, but without being too bold, and almost a touch of a purple undertone. This actually ended up being as spot on as I could hope for. I soaked it for a few hours, then did a pre-wash and dry. Fabric was delightfully soft, had no shrinkage worth mentioning, and sewed up so nicely. Just sad that my daughter hasn't had an excuse to wear it since then!

I was over the moon happy when I received this beautiful linen. I loved Jennifer's top she made and even ordered the Vogue pattern. Definitely ordering more of this linen.

Gorgeous color
Reviewer: Jamie

I love the weight and feel of this linen, and the color is incredible. In some light very pinky, in others more purpley. It was hard to thread match but I've gotten a ton of compliments wearing it! It was a delight to work with, especially to hand hem.

Lovely rich red
Reviewer: Mallory

This color is more muted red than the tawny port. It is lovely and rich without being too bright. Love it!

Even cut!
Reviewer: Linda

This linen was cut off the bolt nearly perfect! I did pull threads to get the straight grain - but only a quarter inch. I recently bought linen from two other places and both were nearly four inches off grain!!! This means almost losing necessary yardage for a pattern! I was extremely pleased with this cut and this company. I did have an issue with color coming off onto a tangerine batiste that I prewashed this "wild cherry" with. It won't be a problem but I will be careful when I wash the finished garment. Or I may wash it one or two times more before laying out the pattern on the fabric.

Perfect Wild Cherry
Reviewer: Enid

I love this fabric. Washed and dried it 3 times to make it as soft as possible and now it has that great softened look that I don't even have to iron. I'm making some cutoff pants.

Soft to the hand, luxurious feel.
Reviewer: Alexis

Easy to sew with, and it washed and ironed very well. Linen is one of my favorite fabrics to sew with due to its versatility and this fabric is no exception.

Pleasantly Surprised
Reviewer: Katheryn

My son picked this color for SCA clothing we were having made for him. I wasn't sure but he continued to go to this one. When we received the completed clothing from our friend I was surprised at how well this color looked on my son. It is beautiful in person, not too red and not too pink.

Fantastic endurance
Reviewer: Phred

I bought some of this about 6 years ago and made a simple historic dress for kitchen and fire pit cooking work. Hard, greasy, hot, rough work. I had to double-wash it once or twice to get rid of kitchen stains (despite use of an apron). It finally started to degrade this year, and it's a sore loss. Washed it most times in cold and hung to dry. Fantastic fabric, long-lasting and very tough!

substantial and soft
Reviewer: Merry jo

I haven't sewn this yet, but I've sewn other Fabrics-store linens. They're a fairly dense weave, which makes them more durable. Garments sewn with french seams seem to last forever. I usually avoid pinks and rosy colors. This one is more like a faintly bleached cherry. The color is very versatile. It goes with tans, khakis, blacks, neutral greys, and many dark blues and purples.

Beautiful color!
Reviewer: Kathy

I'm not a pink person at all, and look terribly in cherry reds. This deep rose color is just fantastic! I bought it for a Viking apron dress and plan to embroider on it. It has enough red and purple that it looks plausible as a period color, and it's not so dark that I couldn't use just about any color to embroider (And as we now know, the Vikings loved their color!) Can't wait to make this dress.

WildCherry Crazy
Reviewer: Robin

I was looking for a color for a 14th century dress. I could not resist when I saw this color. The color in person is better than the picture. I am really pleased with IL019 Wildcherry.

I made this Agustina boxy top for a friend in exchange for some choice pieces from her fabric stash. She is an autumn complexion whose hair has gone white, and her glasses frames are this color. It looked fab on her the day we did the fitting. This is a luscious color with much more depth and intrigue than burgundy. It is as if a tiny bit of red violet sneaked into some claret. So rich! This will pull out the natural color of some people's lips and skin undertones beautifully.

I used this fabric to create a "Masha and The Bear" halloween costume for my Masha-obsessed daughter. Was worried the color wouldn't be quite right but it was literally perfect. Fabric sewed up so nicely and was very comfortable for the kid.

I wanted to try and capture a more true picture of the dress/color. I think depending on the lighting it is more red than purple Ish. I like the more burgundy purple color but it honestly looks like the online sample. I love it :-)

This linen made a sweet baby dress! This is the Dublin dress/cardigan by Ikatee. It is a fully reversible dress, lined with a floral cotton.

This is a beautiful shade! Maroon, but with some berry notes to it. I made a maxi length Brumby skirt (Megan Nielsen pattern), and paired it with a Pearl wrap cardigan (Tilly and the Buttons pattern).

Love this beautiful color! It's a very pinky purple and the fabric quality is wonderful. Made this loose linen dress based on 100 Acts of Sewing shirt no 2, shortened with a gathered skirt. Not perfectly made but the fabric is so lovely I've gotten tons of compliments wearing it!

Custom-designed medieval dress. I love the rich colour of this shade - it's not quite purple, but not pink either. I've been wearing it to larp events regularly for almost a year, and it gets dragged through grass, dirt, snow, and mud, it gets stepped on, and I even occasionally roll around on the grass in it. It's standing up very well to the abuse, and is hands down my favourite dress!

I made Simplicity #8553 view C to go along with my new handmade faux silk pajama set. This robe also can double as a dress.

I used this beautiful fabric to make a maternity dress. The color, weight and the drape are all perfect. I can tell it will be my favorite piece to wear in the last months of my pregnancy. So relaxing and comfortable!

This is nice weight for any garment when you want some body without stiffness. Gorgeous color, it's even richer in person!

This is absolutely gorgeous linen! So soft, but firm and not wimpy, with a depth of colour you just have to see in person. I made this smock dress for my online store.

I used Wild Cherry for this vintage-inspired bloomer jumpsuit. It was a bold color choice for this piece that worked out fabulously. I love it!

I used Wild Cherry for this apron dress (part of a line I designed). The fabric was a dream to work with - perfect balance of body/drape. And the color is perfect - not quite purple, and blends nicely with the other earthy tones I used for the line. I found it to be true to the color swatch online. I would highly recommend this linen.
