Darkness pervades Tacita Dean's artworks, falling over craggy rocks and epic mountains into inky, bottomless wells. BLACK Linen shares Dean's endless black, a colour that intensifies mystery and drama, cloaking and concealing everything it touches.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.
As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

What is the most economical fabric for kitchen towels?

We are offering different options fabric for towels . IL019 medium weight , is great option for towels , We also have a narrow fabric 19" wide IL084 jacquard woven and IL085 yarn dye fabric . All those options are great to make a towels.
Since fabric is preshrunken according to description, do you still recommend washing and drying before cutting?

Is this being sourced from a new mill? Is it a new Signature Finish formula? This is a scratchy, gross feeling; the hand feel is not nearly as velvety as that of the other IL019 All-purpose FS Signature Finish I have ordered. Also, it's not the same Selvedge Edge, which is why I think this inferior product is performing differently. I ordered this a few months ago and had the same opinion. I was hoping that the supplier would go back because I used to love this linen. Really bummed :(

I have bought many many yards of linen from fabrics-store.com, and love, love, love it! This black is very black and has a gorgeous sheen. I'll be making a tank dress and one more item to sell in a local shop.
I've purchased from this store for years, this is the worst quality i've ever gotten. Did the manufacturer start using short-grain fibers? This is SO itchy and scratchy. It's a static mess too, its literally picking up every speck of anything around. I've purchased A LOT of black linen fabric from this company and a lot of the medium-weight linen fabric too....what happened? This is horrible.

We really sorry to find out you not happy with the purchase of IL019 Black FS Signature Finish. For this fabric we only using long staple of flax. The Signature finish fabric is prewashed and should be soft and shrinkage free. We recommend you to wash fabric or item with softener this will help to make fabric more soft and silky. Luv it! Lightweight but not sheer. Very soft. I have EDS-H and autoimmune system deficiencies that make my skin hyper-sensitive. Working with this fabric has not caused me to have skin issues. I haven't finished my garment yet, but I'm presuming I'll be able to enjoy wearing it. Plus, I got it at a VERY discounted cost, which really helped me, since I have limited resources. I am glad I found this website, the linen is beautiful. I made a gorgeous black linen gathered waist skirt, and will make a peasant blouse in black too. The marketing is effective with emails coming in with exclusive offers which are very tempting and I have purchased both medium weight white and black. I regret that the shipping is $10 + which seems high, especially as I was not able to put 2 orders into one package - so $22 for shipping felt steep and will certainly effect my future purchases.
after falling in love with the feel of it, i bought a full 15 yards of the IL109 Bleached Signature Finish when it was offered at the 38% discount promo. so when the same in black became available at the discount, i did not hesitate to buy 15 yards of it as well. these will be staple fabrics for a linen capsule wardrobe and i can even dye the bleached in desired colors (although i'm a sucker for the doggie bag color offerings here as well!) thank you Fabrics Store for your amazing offerings!
But no black linen was delivered to my house on February 29th. First I knew about this was your request to review it. Which I can't. But I'm sure it was lovely, and someone is enjoying it somewhere.
What's not to like? The softness the drape, durable, it's a great foundation color!
This linen is perfect for pants. I have made several pairs (14 to be exact) and wear them all the time. I always get compliments on the range of colors offered. I highly recommend this fabric.

I've made many projects with Fabrics-Store linen over the years and enjoy the variety of weights, finishes, and colors available. Most of my first garments were made with this linen because I find it versatile and easy to work with.

I made a magical extra pocket! The belt is adjustable by wooden buttons so that it can be worn high on the waist or lower on the hips, depending on the outfit. For my fabric, I chose the Signature Black Linen in Medium Weight. Deciding on a colour was honestly the most difficult part of the process! The Akira set would look so great in absolutely any colour of the rainbow. I ended up choosing black because of the great childhood memories I have visiting cosmetic counters!
