For something with a lovely drop shoulder sleeve and reverse pleat details, I expected this kaftan to be a lot more flattering than it is. The v neck was also very confusing to sew because the point of the v was not marked on the pattern, so when I followed the 3/8" seam allowance and turned on the midpoint, I ended up with a V neck that went most of the way down to my bellybutton! Being a bit short did not help my case. In the end, my efforts cutting, facing, and assembling this kaftan resulted in something that fit and looked far worse than a kaftan made of a rectangle with a head hole and side seams.
very easy, thank you
Here is what I could capture in a selfie of the long Emma kaftan I am wearing in IL019 mid weight black linen. This was fun to make, neckline was cut too low for my taste so I sewed in a little placket. I also didn't make the side slits as high. At my age the more skin covered up the happier society is! I am wearing a long sleeve tunic under for warmth., I would make this again in a color this time.
