ROYAL BLUE linen has the brilliant vibrancy of the Mediterranean Sea as it stretches outwards into an infinite horizon of azure blue. French painter Henri Matisse spent the majority of his life in Nice, where this same limitless blue light filtered into his mind's eye, to be reimagined on canvas as fields of electrifying ultramarine.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

What is the color difference between royal blue and ultramarine? Does one have slight red tones? Does one look more denim? One richer in color? Darker/lighter?

The deep ultramarine has more red and is brighter than the Royal blue which is more blue with no red undertones. We do have swatches for purchase to make sure one or the other will work for your intended project.

A good blue and so soft.

I am really enjoying the color of Royal Blue for my project, the Nina Lee Bakerloo dress, the drape is lovely and after only one washing the fabric has a favorite garment feel, soft to the touch. The color is perhaps a bit lighter than the photo but is a very Royal blue.

A favorite

This color and weight is a favorite for making making tunics for historical reenactment. It is heavy enough to withstand the wear, but light and breathable enough to be worn in Texas heat.

Royal blue linen

I called the phone # and the customer service very helpful and pleasant. I chose to get samples to get the correct color. Very good option to be able to get the right weight of fabric and color. Samples and eventually chosen fabric beautiful and very fast turnaround. This company very helpful, and easy to work with.

I love this blue! The rich royal blue is my favorite shade of my favorite color, and this weight is perfect for everything from Viking serks to côtes, lined côtehardies and their undergowns, and 18th century shortgowns and petticoats. The smoothly-woven linen has just the right amount of texture and body to look fantastic and stand up well to extended use. I go through so much of it, it's probably my signature color!

This is a GORGEOUS color and weight of linen! This is my only purchase for my upcoming Renaissance Festival costume (the rest is thankfully from my stash!) We're going with more historically accurate boned kirtles rather than corsets, the front of which will be the underskirt showing in front. This will be nice and cool. Of course, I will also have a red linen petticoat underneath. Pics when I finish, I promise. LOVE this linen!

I love this tunic and all the linen from this company.

This mid weight is perfect for this smaller shoulder bag. The color is bright, but still has some earthy undertones. It's a great accent color to a simple outfit. It was also perfect for the small embroidery at the top. I lined the bag with a light cotton fabric.
