Description:

The Sol pattern collection takes easy comfort pieces and adds dressed-up details for a polished look. The Sol pullover tunic is semifitted with a unique standup neckband and placket, bust darts, long sleeves with wrist slit, and inseam pockets. Cinch the waist with the optional double-wrap sash. The same styling carries over to the button-down cardigan version with a slightly shorter length. Both tops pair beautifully with the included minimalistic pants. They have a high-placed fitted waistband, front and back darts, a hidden side zipper, and a wide-leg silhouette.

Customer Questions and Answers

Regarding the Sol pants, the waistband is stiff and stands directing up away from my waist. My waist is only 7" smaller than my hips. Do you have a suggestion to improve the fit of the waistband? I've been considering taking the waistband off and making another but not sure I'd get it right. Do you have a simpler approach?

Hello, If you can please send a photo to us directly and I can take a look at the waistband, and be able to recommend you the best method for fixing the fit.

Can you tell me what weight linen would be good for the pants and tunic as I live in Central Florida and it doesn't get so cold here in winter but I still need pants and long sleeves at times

Mary • November 12, 2023

We recommend our medium weight linens as they are light and breathable while also being substantial enough for warmth.

How do you use the pattern hook?

To use the pattern hook, you need to punch a hole in each of your pattern pieces and thread the anchor through the holes to hang them up.

I normally buy XL patterns... would this be equivalent to a 16 or an 18 in your patterns?

Joanne • April 20, 2023

Hello, Due to the variations in sizes across brands, we recommend you compare your body measurements to the size chart in the pattern to select your best size.

Oftentimes the booklet falls to the bottom of either the outside brown shipping box or the white tube that holds the pattern. It can be hard to see, please check the brown box first by inverting it and tapping the bottom, this should release the booklet if it is stuck. If it is not in the outer brown box, please remove the white cap at the bottom of the pattern tube and see if it is there. We appreciate you double checking and if you cannot find it, please let our customer service team know so we can send it out right away.

Where can I see a pic of the pants (front & back) and the back of the blouse?

Trish • December 18, 2022

Hello, If you scroll through the photos on this page you will see a back view. The back of the pants is plain, so you'll be able to see more detail in the line drawings which are the last image when you scroll down.

Where do I find out how much material I would need?

The estimated yardage for each style is located in the size chart. You can find this located near the Add to cart and size selector buttons. This is on the right hand side of the page on a computer.

The Fabric Store Sol pattern is beautiful, including pants, a "cardigan," and a tunic. I was immediately drawn to the sophisticated collar and cuffs on the tunic and cardigan. The pattern came beautifully packaged in a storage tube. It included a full-color instruction booklet and even a pattern hook! While I've often admired some of the patterns available from Fabric Store, I hesitated to invest because they can be perceived as more expensive than other pattern designers. However, when I thought about it, the cost was equivalent to buying any independently designed PDF pattern and sending 2-3 large-format pages to the copy shop.

I jumped at the opportunity to try the Sol. It's a three-piece set that includes a tunic with a structured three quarter front placket and waist tie, a button-up cardigan with the same structured collar design, and simple wide-legged pants with a straight waistband and invisible side zipper. The instructions for both pieces were incredibly easy to follow, and the visuals were especially helpful with the trickier bits. The sleeve construction was something I'd never come across before and I was slow to trust the process, but I took it step by step and the aha! moment finally clicked as I was finishing up the underarm seam.
