This is a 19" wide canvas weight cloth.
Woven out of thick, short staple, linen thread - this fabric is made to scrunch up after the wash and dry. It shrinks about 18% on the weft of the fabric ( widthwise) and 16% of the warp of the fabric ( lengthwise). This gives it the needed density for home textiles.
At a canvas weight of 9.1 ounces a square yard this 100% linen is a fabulous utilitarian fabric that you will love for its simple rustic beauty and strength. Items made from this fabric will wear like iron and last decades.
Yarn Dyed fabrics are made using threads that are dyed separately before being woven. This allows for a large variety of patterns and designs that stand out from the base fabric color.

Customer Questions and Answers
While the weight of these seems really nice, it takes way too much effort to get them to the point where I could actually sew them up into dish towels. The puckering of the fabric does reduce. Someone at the office suggested that I use fabric softener to get them to behave, but I am not going to use it. I am going to stick with the 7.1 oz weight. Also, I like to miter the corners, and the 9.1 weight is just too heavy to do that. In the end, I love the 7.1 oz even though I find the natural color to be much darker than it shows on the monitor.

I'm learning
I bought this to make dish towels. I find it very stiff and comes out of the dryer softer but still very stiff and definitely needs to be ironed. With the 7oz weight I can smooth them with my hand and they look fine. I'm still going to use them for dish towels, but I'll use the 7oz in the future. I think they'll be more durable than the lighter weight however. Still love linen!
I've made several dish towels with this fabric and absolutely love it! I find them to be very absorbent. I added some embroidery to these.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
