IL020 Black Handkerchief Linen
Reviewer: Donna
I bought 2 yards of this fabric to make a long sleeve blouse. It took the entire 2 yards; long sleeves, no collar, self-faced. I have to add extra length to the sleeves and bodice because I am 5´10". The fabric feels fabulous. I also stitched the raw edges before washing as I wash and dry before cutting, and find the fabric washes better this way. When I am finished, I will wash and line dry until slightly damp and then iron. This is what I do with my robe that I made out of the medium weight linen, and it looks and feels great. Linen is great to sew on and gives excellent results. Plus, it is durable. I have ten dogs, and the fur brushes right off the linen and it holds up to their paws. Unlike synthetic material where lint and fur actually start to weave into the material so a lint roller is useless. This linen looks and wears great, endures abuse. However, it looks best when ironed damp. I do not like the look out of the dryer. I prefer a crisp look. Hope this information is useful.

Go for it.

I recently began sewing again after many years away. I bought three yards several years ago and finally made it up into a dress. This weight is easy to press, cut, pin, and sew. I then proceeded to stock up on colors I love that aren´t carried all the time! The gorgeous mineral yellow and the turquoise (my idea of the perfect yellow and my favorite blue). It´s true, you´ll be addicted to sewing with this linen.

beautiful fabric

One yard of this was purchased along with the same weight in the unbleached color. The fabrics were sewn into two head scarves. The weave is fine and even enough that I could easily draw threads for marking a 32 inch square without tugging on too many slubbs. I have seen other linens vendors offering finer weights, but at more than twice the price. This weight is just what I want, and will be purchasing more for blouses. Thank you.

Quality fabric

I had bought this for 2 reasons, first for a repair to a lining of a Pea Coat, and second to cover a featherweight case!! so glad I did, it worked perfectly, soft, yet held its shape. Now I can see what others have said about linen, I may have to try to do other things with it!!

Very nice soft fabric

I have not sewn this yet but have washed and dried it and it came out of the dryer looking like it will need very little if any ironing. Fabric is very soft and I can´t wait to stitch it up.

Black Handkerchief Linen IL020
Reviewer: Tresa
As a fairly new customer I recently bought this lovely linen in black after buying it in the optic white color. It is a dream to handle and sew on and presses up very nicely. It feels wonderful next to the skin and perfect for children or adult garments I always wash and dry my linen before using it. I would highly recommend this product and will most likely buy more in the near future. Thanks for your wonderful service and product!

I made a sideless surcoat (black) and an underdress that has double sleeves. The over sleeves are made to have lacing on them, but I like them free falling. And I also made a hennin with black on the outside and lined with green. The green was representation of her skin and the black her clothing. The outfit was made for (SCA) Atlantian Kingdom's Spring Coronation 2013 and the theme was Villains, needless to say, I was Elphaba, Wicked Witch of the West. And yes, I Did have a broom.
