I made the Kaftan Dress from your free patterns out of this and added large patch pockets on the front. I purposely chose the heavier weight because I wanted to wear it as a tunic over long sleeved t-shirts and pants in the spring and fall. It turned out beautifully. And oh, that color! It is such a beautiful, rich red. I get a lot of compliments on it.

I bought 10 yards of 4C22 in Crimson to make a casual throw-type slipcover for our sofa during the holiday season. It arrived a brilliant, rich red with slight blue tones, so it appears a dark red rather than a bright crayon red. I cut it into two 5-yard lengths, serged the raw ends, and washed in very hot water twice and dried twice. Lots of lint in the dryer (this is always the case with new linen), so I checked frequently to remove the lint during the drying cycle. The fabric came out really soft and pliable--heavenly to touch. The linen faded a bit, most noticeably on the deeper wrinkles but not enough to be a problem at all. There is a slight loss of color and depth after washing, but the remaining color is beautiful and still very rich and elegant. I pressed the selvages (which did not shrink disproportionately but remained flat and smooth with the regularly woven linen), sewed the two pieces together with a wide french seam, hemmed up the short raw edges, and it was good to go. The hemming was very easy--this fabric takes a steam press beautifully, and I was happy at how quickly nice, even hemming was accomplished. This is really wonderful fabric to sew...so much so that it practically sews itself. I love it, and will be back for more. I am a huge fan of Fashion-Fabrics. Their linens--of all kinds--never disappoint.

I like rich reds in my attire. This fabric fits that bill very nicely. It is a heavier weight, so I advise washing it (cold water!) before cutting. The color does fade slightly after the wash, but only slightly. I´m making a rapier fighter´s tunic from it--a stylish one!

The rustic linen is my favorite weight, and this crimson is an especially beautiful red. As a blanket (see description and photo on right), it has held up well to daily use and abuse over the past several months.

I use fabrics-store.com linen for many medieval re-enactment and household projects. The consistent quality and color selection are great. The 4C22 is ideal for items that need a sturdy, substantial material. I use it for horse caparisons, banners, pourpoints (a padded jacket-like garment), and interfacing for garments that need structure.

This fabric is the second purchase I have made from Fabric-Store. It will be used for table linens which I intend to machine embroider for the Christmas holidays. The color is a wonderful rich red and will be a beautiful base for my holiday china. The fabric is the perfect weight for a tablecloth, yet soft enough to use for napkins. I can´t wait to get started on the project!

4C22 CRIMSON Softened - 100% Linen My 10-year old son requested linen blankets for his room, so I ordered 5 yards of this heavyweight, rustic 4C22 Crimson Softened fabric. Here is the first blanket draped sideways over the queen sized bed in my room. He loves it, the cats try to get on it, and even the rabbit makes a beeline for it. It is a beautiful, rich red. I pretreated the fabric by zigzagging the raw edges together to prevent them from fraying in the wash, then washed it on hot and dried it on high twice. Before cutting it, I also ironed and squared it (by pulling threads across the ends for cutting lines). Since then, it's been washed on warm, dried on low until damp, then gently shaken out, lightly stretched, and hung to dry the rest of the way. Even after a few night's sleep, it's only lightly rumpled looking.
