I just love this color, for me it is the perfect medium blue with a lightest, faintest hint of teal which makes it so much more interesting! Definitely will buy more of it, it´s my new favorite!

Reviewer: Simone
My picture shoes the color pretty true (on my screen at least) it does not have any teal notes in it and isn´t as dark as what the swatch above shows. At least not my dyelot.

Love the color and the weight of this linen, it´s a very understated color. Muted yet blue and not muddled or greyed out. I made a button front shirt dress and wear ot all the time!

After the first wash this is the most luxuriously soft linen I have purchased from Fabric-Store yet but that takes nothing away from the gorgeous color. Matches my eyes so I see a dress in the making. Would buy it over and over again. Lynda

I just received my IL019 100% Linen Blue Bonnet, softened. Oh my goodness! The color is so beautiful I keep looking at it. I am not sure what I will make with it yet, but know it will make up beautifully. I really like it and am glad I purchased it. Nice. Very nice.

Love this linen! It truly is an all-purpose linen and works well for many projects. It´s a beautiful blue color that does appear a tad lighter in natural light, than it does in the listing photo. www.annelieseandserafina.etsy.com

review star review star review star review star review star   Some fading
Reviewer: Allison
I made myself a skirt and a reversible bodice using this and some green piecings for the other side. After wearing it at faire for 2 years the blue on the straps of my bodice has started to fade. This fading has not happened with any of the other linens I have bought from here. It was very disappointing and I´m hoping that perhaps it was just that particular dye lot perhaps just mixed with my sweat, because I would still probably purchase again. I love the color all too much. The skirt I made has not shown too much fading, and unlike the bodice, I throw it in the dryer almost every time I wash it.

Fabrics-store´s 5.3 oz IL019 linen is my go-to all-purpose linen for both modern and historical clothing. It´s a good weight for skirts, pants, and dresses, as well as for 18th-century-style petticoats and everyday gowns. It has a half-inch closed selvage on each side that reduces the need to bind or fell seams -- although it does fray on the cut edges, so you´ll want to do something with those. Blue Bonnet is a nice medium blue, sort of like stonewashed denim or a slightly faded indigo dye. The color is uniform and even -- no heathering effect. It is a bit coarser and slubbier than the IC64, so it´s nice for modern outfits where you want that crunchy look.

Reviewer: Megan
I loved this colour when I saw it on the website, but loved it even more when I received it. The picture on the website doesn´t do the colour justice - it looks in the pic like a teal shade, but it is a lovely rich clear blue. I am so looking forward to making something with this fabric - I just cannot decide what to do. I have used this same family of linens before, and it is beautiful to sew with and handle, and is hard wearing and looks fantastic.

Reviewer: Bethany
I use this linen for all my SCA costuming since traditional Medieval Northern European weather was, shall we say, somewhat colder than Mississippi, USA. Also I am allergic to wool and this is my only other authentic option for costuming. A nice color easily explainable as a dye having been made with woad.

Reviewer: Nannette
I just finished the embroidery on a late-Roman-period palla (large rectangular shawl) made from this fabric, and I loved working with it. The hand of the fabric has just the right amount of softness, I love the medium indigo-blue color, and it is very easy to embroider. The only problem -- and it was a small one -- was that the selvedge was somewhat rough along the inner edge and had to be trimmed off, and the fabric hemmed there instead of leaving the selvedge in place as Id planned. Nevertheless, I will definitely be using this fabric for more reenactment clothing projects.

I love this fabric... I use it quite often for my customers garments when they order the color blue.. It is more of dark indigo blue than a navy, but definietely the online picture is so much lighter than in hand.. this is close to navy in hand.

I used this linen to make a 1770-era Open Robe Polonaise gown. It worked up beautifully, has a nice body and a pretty color. I highly recommend this linen for re-enactors.

IL019 BLUE BONNET Softened - 100% Linen I overdyed Blue Bonnet with an indigo dye, and sewed Tina Given's pattern "Prairie Slip" from this great linen. I used vintage linens for the under skirt, and authentic Japanese fabric for the pockets. Great linen in great colors, that take dye wonderfully.

IL019 BLUE BONNET Softened - 100% Linen I made my daughters coordinating dresses out of 2 yards of bluebonnet fabric that I bought from a doggie bag sale. The color is an interesting blue...definitely not a true bluebonnet color like our Texas state flower, but still pretty by itself. Blue is one of my favorite colors so I wear a lot of it, but this shade of blue is unlike anything I have on hand. It goes well with itself, but doesn't match the typical blues that I have. Maybe it tends toward gray? I like how these dresses turned out, but I probably would choose a different blue in the future.
